Editorial Reviews:

Presenting the newest discovery in the series with the Midas touch — a mythical exploration fit for the gods

In the early nineteenth century, an English nobleman embarked on a tour of the sites of ancient Greece. He brought as his guide a primer on Greek myths written by his friend Lady Hestia Evans, a devotee of Lord Byron who had recently taken the same voyage. In the true Romantic spirit, Lady Hestia’s book was not only lavishly illustrated but also boasted many paper crafts and novelties, including a card game featuring the twelve Olympians, an oak-leaf oracle of Zeus, a pop-up Pandora’s box (with hope still inside), a booklet retelling the tale of Odysseus, a piece of the Golden Fleece, a gold OBOLOS coin to pay the ferryman on the River Styx, and many more flaps, foldouts, and other surprises. The nobleman added his own witty comments and drawings along the way, but seems to have wished for something odd at the Delphic oracle: as the book nears its end, it slowly begins to turn . . .to gold. Now, for lovers of Greek myths and those just discovering their timeless power, this fascinating volume is faithfully reproduced with all its Romantic ambience, clever wit and novelty features intact.

Summary: Better than Edith
Comment: Okay, so the book is not as comprehensive as Edith Hamilton, but it is such a beautiful book. Plus, it is a fun way to introduce your kids to mythology, and not just Greek mythology. Would highly recommend this book to mythology lovers. We just love the ology books.

Summary: Great Series #3 Interesting and Fun for Parents and Kids Alike!
Comment: Most of you know Metaldiva has two strapping metalbabies, both boys, and they cannot wait for the next of these books to hit the shelves. There is something to be said for a book that can take dry, not so popular reference information and make it come to life for adults and children. This version, like the previous ones, is richly illustrated and has lovely pop-ups, pockets and doodads that turn the reader into an explorer. It has wonderful facts and fun that can open up kids to learning without knowing they are doing so. Even parents, like me, that thought they were pretty versed in the subject, learn fun facts and share that learning with the kids, too. We bought the companions to the Egyptology, Dragonology, Pirateology and Wizardology and all the accoutrements and games. Not one has dissapointed us. There's two more that just came out Monsterology and Spyology, the kiddos cannot wait to get theirs. Peek at[...] , it ties them all together with fun games and trivia, my boys love it!
Metaldiva Sez: This is a series that is entertaining, informative and unlike many other children's books, that you read once and shelve, this will be opened and played with time and time again. Must have!!!

Summary: Greek Mythology
Comment: I really like Greek mythology and have read some books on it,so for anyone who is thinking of buying the book Mythology,I recommend also buying books in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians Series,by Rick Riordan. They are about a boy who discovers his father is a Greek god and the adventures he has. As for Mythology, I think it is a great source for information on the ancient Greeks, and highly recommend it.

Summary: Neat Quill in the back of the book
Comment: My 8 yr old loves the ology books. He received this one as a birthday gift and was pleasantly surprised to find the quill in the back of the book. Apparently he has wanted one since he saw Harry Potter... The quill has a ball point pen inserted in it, so that you can write without the mess of Indian Ink.

As to the stories in the book. They are great as usual. He likes that the stories or explanations are short. He doesn't have to read an entire book to get the information. For him Pirateology is still his favorite, but this is a really good book too.
