Since her husband's tragic death fours years before, 29-year-old Julie Barenson had been reluctant to date, but she now feels ready to test the waters. Soon she is being wined and dined by Richard Franklin, a handsome and sophisticated engineer who treats her like a queen. She also suddenly finds herself entertaining romantic thoughts about Mike Harris, her best friend in the world. Mike is nowhere near as debonair as Richard and has permanent grease stains on his hands from his work as an auto mechanic, but he's funny, loyal, and a great favorite with Julie's beloved dog Singer. When Julie innocently chooses between the two men, she has no idea that she will set off a chain of events at once terrifying, dangerous and, ultimately, deadly. A riveting tale of love, jealousy, and obsession, THE GUARDIAN has all the romance that Nicholas Sparks' fans have come to expect as well as a new element of suspense that will keep them turning the pages late into the night.

Customer Rating: Summary: The Guardian Comment: The GuardianHardback by Nicholas Sparks
Did not keep my interest so took longer to read than usual for me.
Customer Rating: Summary: too sad and depressing Comment: I gave this book 4 stars because of the very ending. It is a great novel as far as suspense, love, and a sweet dog named Singer(The Grardian). I love the way Nicholas Sparks writes and I should have known what the ending would be, but I kept hoping this one would end good, and it could have, and still been an excellent book. I just can't read anymore of these sad books of his that leave me feeling depressed and sad. Needless to say this one was most depressing of them all. I am still crying for Singer.
Customer Rating: Summary: great! Comment: I didn't expect my book in so great condition..! seriously, I wasnt even thinking that maybe I bought a hard cover book.. it's amazing! and in such a good condition, and such a great prize! thanks guys!!
Customer Rating: Summary: Sparks At His Best! Comment: I have to say I own every Nicholas Sparks book he has every written and I must say most authors are only good at writing what they are known for, Stephen King/Horrors, Jonathan Kellerman/Thrillers, and I always thought Nicholas Sparks/Love Stories. But after reading "The Guardian" I was proven wrong. I was shocked at how great he wrote this book. I thought it wouldn't be as good as his others with just love stories. But boy was I proven wrong. He is just as good at writing thrillers as he is with his love stories. He does it so well I just couldn't stop reading it and there are some definite parts that will make the hair on the back of your neck stand up and make you want to look outside to see if someone is out there. So take this review from a advid Sparks reader and go out and get this book it will not dissapoint you in the least, It will keep you reading for sure.
Customer Rating: Summary: Love goes first, thriller - second Comment: I've never read anything by this author before, but after watching a movie called "The Notebook", I thought that this writer is worth my attention. At first, I kind of expected to get some complicated love story with characters wandering back and forth with their decisions, but later on I got really satisfied to find out thriller included into the story. As I was a little bit tired at that time of reading "simple" love stories, this book provided me exactly what I needed: some action intertwined into the love story.
